We have had the distinct pleasure of having Ana Cantu-Ortega of ACO School of Music as the piano teacher for both or our boys for about 15 years. She is an incredible teacher, mentor and role model to them both. Ana began teaching both of our boys when they were 3 years old and she took them from their first recitals through becoming accomplished and professional musicians that have competed and placed or won numerous piano competitions around Texas and Colorado through their middle and high school years. Ana’s approach to teaching music is balanced between theory, technique, and practicing methods to give them an understanding of music at the deepest levels that has enabled them to become the musicians that they are. We believe that her support and mentorship has enabled them both to achieve at the outstanding levels that they have. There are not many families that can boast having both of their boys accepted into one of the top music schools in the nation, both with full ride scholarships and both being awarded the prestigious TMEA Bill Cormack music scholarship in their senior years of high school. We firmly believe that without Ana’s involvement in their lives, our boys would not be the talented, successful, and hard-working musicians that they are today.

My daughter has been taking lessons from Ms. Ana for the last six years and she has been amazing! She makes music fun! She not only teaches her students how to play, but the theory and history of music as well. She has a gift of knowing when to push and when to pull back, when to encourage and nurture and when to critique. She always seems to find another way to teach something if a student has difficulty learning something. Ms. Ana truly cares about lifting up her students and shares in their accomplishments and stumbles. She has not only taught my daughter music, but has also helped her gain confidence and learn to overcome setbacks and hurdles. It has truly been a blessing having her as my daughter's teacher and we are so fortunate to have a teacher that puts their heart and soul into everything she does.

I've been a part of the ACO family for about three years. Not only is Ms. Ana an amazing teacher, but she also knows how to encourage all her students how to overcome their piano difficulties and have fun while doing it! She intertwines activities like raffles and challenges to make piano more fun! I'm so happy to be part of the ACO School of Music!
